EssènciesCat is a remarkable blend of passion, artistry, and healing, located in the stunning Empordà region of northeast Catalonia, where the Pyrenees meet the Mediterranean Sea. Established in 2014 by Oriol Blanch, a psychologist and therapist, and Frances Bartlett, an accomplished cellist and artist, this unique project combines the therapeutic power of plants with the healing arts.
The EssènciesCat distillery, built in 2016, produces 100% natural, local, organic, and handcrafted products, sourced from the rich biodiversity of the Mediterranean basin. From aromatic plants gathered on forested hillsides to wildflowers harvested by hand, each product captures the full essence of the plant to support mental and physical health, balance, and well-being. Their offerings include essential oils, hydrosols, Mediterranean flower essences, and mushroom extracts, all crafted with deep respect for nature and their community.
In 2022, EssènciesCat expanded with the creation of Rizoma, a Healing Arts Center, offering a space for holistic wellness and the integration of plant-based therapies with art as a healing tool. Every step of their process, from planting to bottling, is done by hand, reflecting their commitment to sustainability, community, and the transformative power of nature.
